How this PNG to JPEG converter works
Your browser does all the work. When you drop a PNG onto this page, your device decodes it, redraws it on a canvas, and re-encodes it as a JPEG. The file never reaches a server, so the conversion finishes in under a second and nobody else can see your images.
JPEG has no transparency. If your PNG has transparent areas, the converter fills them with white.
When should you convert PNG to JPEG?
PNG stores every pixel without loss. That suits screenshots, logos, and graphics with sharp edges, but the files run large. JPEG compresses photographs by discarding detail your eye can't pick out, and produces files 5 to 10 times smaller.

Does converting reduce image quality?
A little. JPEG shrinks files by discarding fine detail. On the High setting the result looks the same as the original. Medium cuts the file size further with loss you'll rarely spot. Small file trades visible sharpness up close for the smallest output. Avoid re-converting the same image repeatedly, because the loss compounds with each pass.
